About Aclomet T 40mg/50mg Tablet

METOPROLOL SUCCINATE+TELMISARTAN belongs to the class antihypertensive agents used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It may also be used to lower the risk of heart attack and stroke in future. High blood pressure is a condition in which the force of the blood against the artery walls is too high leading to hypertension. Symptoms of high blood pressure include headache, dizziness, nose bleed, changes in vision, chest pain, weakness and dyspnoea (shortness of breath).

METOPROLOL SUCCINATE+TELMISARTAN is a combination of two high blood pressure-lowering medicines: Telmisartan and Metoprolol succinate. Telmisartan belongs to the class of drugs called Angiotensin II receptor antagonists that works by blocking the angiotensin II receptor, relaxing the blood vessels and lowering the blood pressure. Metoprolol succinate belongs to the class of drugs known as beta-blockers which reduces blood pressure by allowing the blood to flow more smoothly. Together, METOPROLOL SUCCINATE+TELMISARTAN helps in reducing the raised blood pressure.

METOPROLOL SUCCINATE+TELMISARTAN is a combination of two blood pressure-lowering medicines: Telmisartan and Metoprolol succinate. Directions for Use

Swallow the tablet as a whole with water. Do not crush, break or chew the tablet. METOPROLOL SUCCINATE+TELMISARTAN can be taken with or without food. Take METOPROLOL SUCCINATE+TELMISARTAN exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Based on your medical condition, your doctor will advise for how long you need to take METOPROLOL SUCCINATE+TELMISARTAN.

Drug-Drug Interaction:

METOPROLOL SUCCINATE+TELMISARTAN may have interaction with medicines used to treat pain (aspirin, ibuprofen), anti-seizure (pregabalin), heart-related medicines (digoxin, flecainide), anti-depression drugs (lithium, fluvoxamine, sertraline, fluoxetine), and drugs used to treat erectile dysfunction (sildenafil).

Safety Advice

ALCOHOL

You are recommended to avoid alcohol consumption while taking METOPROLOL SUCCINATE+TELMISARTAN as it might cause increased dizziness. Alcohol intake might interfere with the working of METOPROLOL SUCCINATE+TELMISARTAN.

 

PREGNANCY

It is not recommended to take METOPROLOL SUCCINATE+TELMISARTAN while you are pregnant.

BREAST FEEDING

It is not recommended to take METOPROLOL SUCCINATE+TELMISARTAN while you are breastfeeding.

DRIVING

METOPROLOL SUCCINATE+TELMISARTAN may cause dizziness, do not drive or operate heavy machinery if you feel dizzy.

 

LIVER

Dose adjustment may be needed.
